Following Twitter through a feed reader
One of the greatest pain points in trying to stay off of Twitter / X is how much of the seasonal anime promotional apparatus communicates exclusively through it. This is of course true of a lot of promotion, and even emergency services, but Japan is uniquely attached at the hip to Twitter. Pretty much all promotional sites have also abandoned RSS as well, and while generated web feeds can be useful, they're fiddly or break often.
To bridge the gap, I follow these accounts in Inoreader using XCancel feeds and use a rule to mark every new item as read immediately. Inoreader also has a Column view which reminds me of the first New Twitter butterfly redesign and makes it less of a pain to consume Twitter through a feed reader than you'd think. XCancel is the most stable option in my experience, but you might find your reader isn't whitelisted, in which case you may need to hunt for still active Nitter instances that provide feeds.
Essentially, any profile can be converted into an RSS feed: https://rss.xcancel.com/NEWPSG_official/rss. There are some caveats with feeds that require an asterisk, but quote posts of course don't translate very well and videos will require you to click through to the xcancel.com tweet page. Mainly, I'd like to remind people that you can keep Twitter at an arms length while not generating more engagement or traffic towards it.
Below you'll find a table with anime and XCancel feeds for the upcoming season, which is my main use case, but you can of course follow this pattern for any profile.
