Because Murmurs is likely to get explosively large, I wrote in support to break out the diary. The philosophy here, I guess, is that while Murmurs will host continuously updating pages like Status messages, they would very quickly get drowned out by something like a diary that frequently publishes new pages. This was decently simple to implement with a few tweaks to the styles used in Collections and a new fromatter inclusion to exclude a certain page in a generated listing (setting EXCLUDE_IN_LISTING).

There's some work to do here still, including trimming the frontmatter (read more all about that in this page about this site's custom engine). Right now I have to create a directory for each post date and an index.html, then duplicate the page title and publishing time inside. Ideally, each entry would be a flat .html file that can presume the title. I'll probably want to add a dedicated feed for this too. Brave minds dare to ask: what would Twitter look like as a website, instead of an endless feed?
